Weather & Rain
Rain and water short-circuit most machines.
The weather changes between clear, cloudy, rain, thunderstorm, fog, snow and blizzard – depending on the season.
Rain is your ally
- In rain, thunderstorms and blizzards, most machines flee under roofs or into buildings and wait until it's dry. Outside they take short-circuit damage.
- They will not follow you outside in the rain: they stay in shelter, watch, and only fight back if you get too close or step under the same roof.
- A small share of daredevils keeps hunting in the rain (world setting, default 12%) – and takes damage doing so.
- Throw a water bottle (right click) to trigger a targeted short circuit.
Rainproof machines
Security robots, combat androids, armoured units and all mechs are rainproof – recognisable by the black sealing cap with a yellow seal ring on the head. Units with the "sealed" retrofit (learning AI, black sealing tape) also resist rain. Water bottles are less effective against them.
Thunderstorms, snow and fog
- Thunderstorm: a little wetter than rain, plus rare lightning strikes on machines standing outside – including rainproof ones, especially tall mechs. Storms also disrupt the network's communication.
- Blizzard: wet drifting snow and icing count partly as rain. Normal snowfall does not harm machines.
- Fog and snow reduce the range of optical sensors.
- Wetness chills you too – watch your clothing and body temperature.
