Day, Night & Moon
Dark nights protect you – bright full-moon nights less so.
Day and night
The length of a game day is adjustable (default 30 real minutes, 50% night). At night optical sensors see worse – but every light stands out all the more. A campfire raises your signature further at night. Thermal sensors see just as well in the dark as in daylight.
Moon phases
- The moon follows a cycle of 29.53 game days. The starting phase depends on the world seed – every world starts differently.
- New moon: very dark nights, ideal for sneaking, but you see little yourself.
- Full moon: bright and readable – for you and for the machines' cameras.
- At night the clock shows the current phase (e.g. "waxing crescent", "full moon").
Season and day length
In summer the sun rises at 4:00 and sets at 20:00, in winter only from 8:00 to 16:00 (see Seasons).
