Survival & Health
Hunger, thirst, nutrients, injuries and illness.
Core stats
Health, hunger, thirst, stamina and body temperature. On top of that come wetness, blood (blood loss weakens you; blood types can be tested) and three nutrients.
Nutrition
- Protein, fat and vitamins (0–100 each) depend on what you eat. Meat and fish provide protein and fat; fruit, vegetables and herbs provide vitamins. Carbohydrates keep you full. A one-sided diet weakens you – protein deficiency lowers your maximum stamina.
- Raw meat and raw fish easily make you sick – roast them at a campfire. Boil or filter raw water first.
- Food spoils (shelf life in days, see the wiki entries). Smoking, curing, preserving and a powered fridge keep it fresh longer.
Injuries
- The body has four zones: head, torso, arms, legs. Injured arms worsen aiming and melee, injured legs slow you down.
- Fractures are fixed with a splint and then heal over time.
- Bleeding is stopped with a bandage or first-aid kit. Open wounds without disinfection can become infected – antibiotics help.
- Fall damage is real; ladders and stairs are safer.
Illness
Flu, cholera, food poisoning, fever and Lyme disease can each be switched off in the world settings. Many symptoms make noise (coughing, sneezing) – and give you away.
Cold and wetness
Clothing has a cold protection value. Wet clothes chill you. You warm up at a fire, a fireplace or in a sleeping bag. The Toughness attribute and the Hardened perk help against the cold.
