Stay Offline

Streamer Mode

Optional: your chat only affects the information layer.

Streamer mode is completely optional. Without it Stay Offline plays exactly the same, and everything works with 0 viewers too.

The core rule

  • You control the physical world, the AI controls robots and sensors.
  • The chat only acts on the information and network layer: sensors, detection, electronics, hacking, communication, misinformation.
  • The chat can never spawn enemies, open doors, kill you, switch off a moving vehicle or open your base. It only acts when you use networked technology.

How it works

  • Twitch (anonymous read access, channel name only) and/or YouTube (with your own API key, stored locally only).
  • Viewers pick a side (!human or !network), solve chat tasks during hacks or report rumours about your location with !intel <place>. The AI only treats that as a probability – never as coordinates.
  • Events are rare and context-dependent (e.g. a flashlight that flickers or whose signal gets masked). No event escalates.

Settings

Modes Friendly, Mixed, Hostile, Chaos; audience danger 0–100%; frequency; maximum influence 5–20% (default 15%); allow sabotage; show names or contributors only; profanity filter; browser overlay for OBS on 127.0.0.1 (default port 8088).

Fair and private

No pay-to-win: subscriptions and donations give no advantage. Unique users count, not messages. Only display names and fixed system texts appear in the game – never free chat messages. Reputation only lasts for the current session.
